HOW DO BABY RED PANDAS GROW UP?
Red pandas are fully mature at 2-3 years, but they can reproduce at 18 months. Mating season is mid-January to early March. Female red pandas gather material to build a nest, normally in a tree or rock crevice, a few days before birth. The female will give birth in mid-June to late July after carrying the baby for 112-158 days in the womb. Red pandas may give birth to 1-4 cubs. Mother red pandas can recognize their young by their different smells. The mother spends around 60%-90% of her time with her cubs until they start to open their eyes at 18 days. After 90 days, the cubs have reached full adult fur and coloring. Cubs tend to stay with their mother until the next generation of cubs are born. Males hardly take care of cubs, if at all. Red pandas generally live for 8-10 years, but individuals have been known to live up to 15 years old.
